Meet the editors of the MWA page!

Amy aka ibamyb:
"I wrote my first webpage back in the summer of 1997, and though it was nothing fancy, I wrote the HTML myself. :) I didn't get "serious" about webpages until last summer (2000) after I got married and wanted a page so our family and friends could keep up with us (being military we don't get to see them a lot!). I really don't like using "template" webpage builders. Instead I use a combination of Microsoft Front Page Express (for the basics) and my own coding (to tweak it). I also love learning new things (menus, music, scripts, etc). I love using original mouse-drawn graphics for my webpages. Some of my favorites are "HoneyBrook Graphics", "Cute Colors", "Graphic Garden", "Art by Nyanna" and "Country Colors". Someday I would like to learn to draw my own graphics, as well as have our own server and domain for my family."

"I put my first webpage together this year in July, I used the Sitebuilder on Geocities. I am a HTML novice but improving thanks to Robin and Amy!! LOL!! I like to use graphics that relate to the person or topic the page is about. Kind of an extension of their personality if you like! I don't have any fave graphics places except Susies Graphics (snidervillage.com), she does great Military stuff. I usually do a search on Yahoo! and then go from there, trial and error I guess you could say!"

Kim aka k_m_r_s:
"I started building websites when my son was born in 1999. Being a military family it made it easier for our family and friends to see how much Max was growing and changing. I changed my page monthly with what new things Max had learned, what DH and I were doing and of course pictures and video. I used a book called "build a webpage in a weekend" which gave all the basic HTML instructions. After about 6 months or so of typing all my code into Notebook on my computer one of my friends asked which "program" or "wizard" I used --meaning shortcut programs that you type in what you want, it spits out the code. HUH? I hadn't even realized any existed! I still use the notebook method which may limit me a bit, but I learn much better by creating all the code myself."

Robin aka my_1st_baby:
"The first web page that built was in high school in 1996. Come to think of it, my mom still has that linked to her homepage! LOL Ahh well...I've been using the regular HTML coding and have most of them in my mind. But for the ones that I don't, I have a list of everything! :) I just found out that there are programs and things like that that I could be using but I would prefer using the codes myself. That way I know what exactly I'm doing. (most of the time! haha) I use many different graphics on my page and always give credit when it's due. When I thought of helping to put the MWA pages together, I had to jump on that opportunity. It's fun and we have a great bunch of ladies helping out!!"

Rose aka cl-rose1018:
"I have been building webpages since 1999. I began on iVillage with their old sitebuilder and progressed to Composer thanks to the help of Teresa and Juliana! I know have my own domain and work with FTP and HTML when I have to but I still build my pages using Netscape Composer 4.7 and 6.0. I enjoy using country styled graphics as they best suit my personality and decorating style in my own home so why not use them to decorate my web home! I have a membership with My Treasured Collection, Mary's Little Lamb, Heartfelt Graphics and Kat's Mouse. I also love to use Graphic Garden and Graphic Cupboard and PrimitaveSamplings. I am always on the look out for good mouse drawn graphics. I always give credit where credit is due and don't like it when people don't give credit to those who do all the hardwork of creating the graphics. It is because of this theft that most of the good graphic artist now charge a fee!"

Teresa aka cinnamon_bunz:
"I've been working on webpages for about 2.5 years. Man, the first one I made totally sucked LOL. I didn't know how to upload pictures or anything hehe. I remember someone recommending Netscape Composer to me and I tried it out and was so clueless. I didn't realize that it's just like a word processor until about a year later! Now I use it all the time for my pages. I just find it faster than HTML. I do know a little HTML (which is much easier than you think at first), but since I don't have it memorized I get a little too lazy to look up codes. I have "HTML for Dummies" and "Creating Web Pages for Dummies" and both have helped me a lot. I try to use original graphics (meaning drawn with a mouse) and they are usually "country" styled graphics. I will use some graphics by people who don't draw their own if they show respect to the original artists of whatever pictures they use to make web sets. I also always give credit to the graphic artist on the SAME PAGE. My biggest pet peeve is when people don't credit the artist and you have to search their site for a list of links that they've borrowed graphics from - that is not giving credit where it is due. I think web pages are a wonderful way for people to learn about others. I try to share my page with my friends and family so they can get a glimpse into my life and mind. I also love visiting other people's pages to learn about them and their interests. I think this new homepage for the board is exciting and I'm really happy to be working on it with all of the wonderful editors."

"I was so glad to help out for this page. I hope I can continue to keep the photos updated and exciting! I am *very* new to making webpages. I am happy using the web building tools/templates for now, but I hope to learn how to do a page "from scratch" once things slow down after New Years."
